ALLIED TIMBERS COMMISSIONS CASHEL SAWMILL

29 AUGUST 2022 | JUSTIN NYAKUDANGA

HIS EXCELENCY PRESIDENT E.D MNANGAGWA COMMISSIONING CASHEL SAWMILL
Allied Timbers board, management, and staff recently celebrated another landmark when His Excellency President E.D Mnangagwa commissioned the new state of art Cashel Sawmill on the 22nd of July 2022 in Chimanimani. The sawmill is worth about USD$13.3 million and took twenty-two months to complete construction.

The sawmill will allow the company to produce 40,000m3 of kiln-dried timber per year thereby increasing the production volumes from the current 10,000m3 and in the process minimizing reliance on third-party sawmillers. In his speech, the President applauded the board and management of Allied Timbers for doing a sterling job in turning around the once cash-strapped company in 2019 through prudent management of the company finances. The funds used to finance this project were raised internally through efficient and effective utilization of resources by management under the supervision of the Allied Timbers Zimbabwe Board. Illegal miners, timber thieves, arsonists, and illegal settlers were also sternly warned that there would be consequences as their undesirable actions had the potential to hamper the sustainability of the sawmill.

In his closing remarks, His Excellency President E.D Mnangagwa commended the Allied Timbers board, management, and staff for a job well done and their resilience and tenacity.
